Methodology & Benchmarks
1. The Taxonomy: CRediT
This tool utilizes the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) standard defined by NISO. It replaces the outdated "Author Sequence" method with a granular matrix of 14 distinct roles.
2. Logic Rules
- Score Calculation:
Score = Σ (Role Weight × Contribution %)
- Conflict (Red): Flags if total contribution for a role > 100%.
- Gap Detection (Yellow): Flags if total contribution for a role is > 0% but < 100%.
- Acknowledgments: If an author contributes less than 15% of the effort of the Lead Author, they are moved to the Acknowledgments section automatically.
3. Co-First Author (Equal Contribution)
If the calculated scores of the top two authors are within a 5% margin of error, the system automatically flags this as an "Equal Contribution" scenario.
